Job Summary
Amentum is seeking a Building Automation Controls Technician located in the Williamsburg area of Virginia.
Responsibilities- Install, program, test, calibrate, operate, and repair control systems along with related software, hardware, and equipment, including energy management, environmental control, boiler, chiller, domestic water, sanitary and storm sewer, and plant monitoring systems.
- Analyze system malfunctions and determine appropriate repairs.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform corrective and preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment such as air handlers, compressors, vacuum pumps, and exhaust fans.
- Install, modify, and maintain system hardware—electrical conduit, sensor wiring, communications wiring, antenna wiring, radio equipment, power supplies, control system enclosures—and maintain motor control systems for fans, pumps, compressors.
- Program control systems using appropriate programming language for sequences of operations and operating schedules.
- Read, modify system blueprints and schematics; create hardware schedules for control projects, renovations, and new construction.
- Maintain logs and records of system operations.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Minimum of two (2) years installing and maintaining building/plant control systems and related equipment.
- Experience with energy management, environmental control, boiler, chiller, sanitary/storm sewer, and plant instrumentation systems.
- Vocational or technical training that is equivalent to the required experience may substitute.
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain a government‑issued clearance at the time of application.
- Strong customer‑service skills, including communication and teamwork.
- Physical stamina to perform manual tasks, including manual dexterity, wrist‑finger movement, and trunk strength.
- Knowledge of digital control concepts such as analog/digital inputs and outputs, sequences of operations, point‑addressable devices, closed‑loop feedback, device programming, serial communications, and networking.
- Advanced PC and application software skills.
This is an hourly, overtime‑eligible position under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In addition to your base hourly rate you may be eligible for a health and welfare payment if you meet SCA requirements.
Hourly rate range: the compensation listed is an estimate and may vary based on experience, location, and applicable agreements.
