Position: 2026/27 Special Education Teachers in Willimantic, CT School Contract
Special Education Teacher (K-4) - Autism & Behavioral Programs

Location: Connecticut
Job Type: Full-Time, Temporary (School Year )
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Pay Rate: $39-$43 per hour (based on experience)

We are seeking dedicated and qualified Special Education Teachers to support elementary students in Grades K-4 for the  school year. These positions are open due to a current vacancy and will run from August 27, 2026 through June 15, 2027.

There are two openings:
  • 1 Special Education Teacher for an Autism Program
  • 1 Special Education Teacher for a Behavioral Special Education Program
Responsibilities
  • Deliver specialized instruction aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Support academic, social?emotional, and behavioral development
  • Implement evidence?based strategies tailored to students with autism and/or behavioral needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with state and district requirements
  • Participate in team meetings, planning activities, and progress reporting
Requirements
  • Connecticut State Special Education Teaching License (Required)
  • DSAP candidates will be considered
  • Experience working with elementary students with autism and/or behavioral challenges preferred
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
Compliance / HR Requirements
  • Fingerprinting and background check as required by district and state regulations
  • Completion of all onboarding and compliance documentation prior to start date
Schedule & Duration
  • Start Date: August 27, 2026
  • End Date: June 15, 2027
  • Schedule: 37.5 hours per week, following the school calendar
