Head Receptionist

Overview

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Part‑Time Head Receptionist to join our team at Mildmay Veterinary Hospital. This job‑share position provides management to the reception team with secondary responsibility for all insurance claims across our three Mildmay practices. Ideally, the role covers Monday – Wednesday and Friday afternoons, roughly 20 hours per week.

As Head Receptionist, you will provide a friendly and efficient service to our clients and their animals. You will manage the reception team, overseeing administration functions within the team, effecting successful communication cascades, driving the recruitment cycle, dealing with complaints, and keeping up to date with new business initiatives.

We are looking for someone who is detail oriented, has excellent communication and organisational skills, and possesses strong leadership abilities. Previous experience managing a team is required, along with receptionist or customer‑facing experience. Experience in the veterinary industry would be highly beneficial. You must be able to remain calm under pressure and show empathy in every situation, from celebrating a puppy’s first visit to comforting a client who has received bad news.
