The OpportunityWe are seeking a detail-oriented and solutions-driven Mechanical Designer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative manufacturing environment and enjoys taking designs from concept through production.
You'll play a key role in developing and improving our product lines-ensuring designs are efficient, cost-effective, and built to perform in real-world conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop Norstar product lines using 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor)
- Translate concepts into detailed production-ready designs, including drafting and dimensioning and performing basic analysis (e.g., FEA/stress considerations)
- Create accurate production drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, performance, and cost efficiency
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, and sales teams
- Provide design support to production, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
- Contribute to continuous product improvement and innovation initiatives
- Partner with the Design Team to support shared goals and project timelines
- Adhere to company safety standards, policies, and procedures
- Hands‑on experience with 3D CAD design (Autodesk Inventor required not AutoCAD)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and technical design software
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams
- Professional, adaptable, and solutions-oriented mindset
- Mechanical Engineering degree or diploma (or equivalent experience)
- Experience in grain handling equipment or agricultural manufacturing
- Background in both design and manufacturing environments
- Competitive Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 CAD, based on experience and technical proficiency (particularly with Autodesk Inventor and manufacturing design)
