All Saints Academy was founded in 1966 as St. Paul’s Episcopal Parish School under Father Gilbertson and Father Sturrup of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church. The school did not adopt its current name until 1993, when the middle and upper school portions of the facility were added, extending the grades serviced to grade twelve.

Overview: ASA is seeking an engaging and accessible ordained Episcopal priest to serve as its next Chaplain. This individual will bring strong energy and enthusiasm to the role, building meaningful connections with ease across a diverse community. The school Chaplain works to ensure that the school’s Episcopal identity is present in the school community. The school Chaplain should foster a sense of religious identity among all segments of the school while being able to assist the school in its efforts to be comfortable with the language, symbolism, and practice of an Episcopal community.

The school Chaplain is responsible for hosting weekly chapel services for lower school, middle school and upper school. The Chaplain will also actively represent ASA in the Central Florida Episcopal Schools Association by attending their bi-annual meetings.

  • Work with students, faculty, and administration to lead developmentally, age appropriate and inclusive weekly chapel services reflective of All Saints Academy’s Episcopal traditions.
  • Maintain contact with potential outside preachers and speakers for chapel services. All guest speakers should be approved in advance by the Head of School.
  • Offer Holy Communion to the community for the Lower, Middle and Upper School chapel services.

Pastoral Care:

  • Maintain pastoral presence for faculty, students, administrators and parents;
  • Maintain regular and open communication with Head of School, Division Heads, School Counselor and Learning Specialists to facilitate pastoral care and counseling for community members as needed. Serve on the School’s Spiritual Identity Committee/Religious Department.

Academic Instruction and Leadership

  • Work with the Head of Lower School to identify a daily devotional for teachers to use with students daily. Be available to support teachers in doing the daily devotionals if needed.
  • Work with the MS/US Religion Teacher in having MS/US students read daily prayers or devotionals in the morning via the intercom system.
  • Be a resource for the MS/US Religion teacher in teaching students about the Episcopal traditions
  • Serve as an active member in the Religion Department
  • When asked by the Head of School, serve on administrative or faculty committees and task forces.

Community Service

  • Coordinate the outreach initiatives and mission trip opportunities in collaboration with the Religious Department

Community Presence

  • Be present, providing opening and closing prayers, blessings, etc. at events like Junior Ring Ceremony, Graduation, Senior Night, etc.
  • Facilitate a dynamic and mutually beneficial relationship between the School and the Episcopal Church where appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Weekly chapel services for lower, middle, and upper school students
  • Monthly eucharist services
  • Minister to the school community as needed
  • Participate in school sponsored events as needed
  • Provide Episcopal resources to parents

Skills Needed:

  • A Master’s Degree in Divinity (preferred), or a Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Studies, or Theology
  • Experience working with or teaching children, particularly in an independent, private, boarding, college preparatory, or like‑kind school setting
  • A love and enthusiasm for teaching religious thought
  • For chaplaincy positions: ordination, or the intention of becoming ordained
  • Skills, talents, and flexibility for contributing to the independent school community in additional capacities.
  • The ability to remain calm during difficult situations

Assume other responsibilities as requested to do so by the Head of School, including but not limited to the work assigned in carrying out the Strategic Plan.
