Job Summary
As a Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer you will lead the planning and development of creative and cost-effective electronic products. The solutions may encompass the design of new, upgraded electronics to replace obsolete technology, which would include supplier re-sourcing and extensive software development. The role requires collaboration with global, cross‑functional teams and disciplines including hardware and software engineering, logistics, purchasing, and manufacturing.
The candidate will be expected to appropriately utilize 6‑Sigma/L1‑L2 NPI methodologies in several areas of their work.
- Establish strategies to sustain electronics over the complete life cycle.
- Lead cross‑functional, global teams in the design and production introduction of new products, processes, components, and systems.
- Oversee project progress and costs; communicate status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; address and resolve problems.
- Acknowledge and raise customers’ and management’s awareness of trade‑offs between time, resources and quality.
- Develop and manage the project/program plan.
- Lead projects – Obsolescence, NPI & CPI and complete them on time and within cost.
- Support and advise other engineers, managers, accountants, customers, and suppliers.
- Track and understand current and projected obsolescence, and develop redesign and validation strategy to address obsolescence issues proactively.
- Mentor, coach, and develop others.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Electronics Engineering – HTH: Knowledge of electronics engineering; ability to design, test and manufacture electronic circuits, components and devices.
- Train others on designing complex integrated circuits.
- Anticipate the challenges and opportunities associated with creating printed circuit boards.
- Interpret alternative interfaces between hardware and software and associated requirements and considerations.
- Advise on matching methodology, materials and tools to the electronic product that is being built.
- Consult on engineering multiple electronic circuits, components or devices.
- Evaluate the benefits and drawbacks of analog and digital circuits.
Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.
Troubleshooting Technical ProblemsKnowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing and product development environment.
- Evaluate business impact of failure and the criticality and timing of needed resolution.
- Resolve difficult or high‑impact equipment and systems problems.
- Monitor machine performance and history; address excessive maintenance or repair needs.
- Coach others how to resolve integration or communications problems in a multi‑vendor environment.
- Apply specific techniques for isolating a problem and defining resolution approach.
- Use advanced diagnostic techniques and tools for unusual or performance‑related problems.
Degree in accredited Engineering curriculum.
Additional InformationThis position will require less than 10% travel.
