SFS is exploring future application fields in advanced mechatronic and robotic systems. To support this exploration, we are offering a 6‑month internship for a highly motivated degree‑seeking student with prior exposure to robotics.
The role focuses on gaining a structured understanding of advanced humanoid robotic systems, with particular attention to their mechanical and mechatronic aspects. This is a hands‑on, exploratory role at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and technology strategy. The role combines technical analysis with market and business‑oriented evaluation and does not require software development or coding.

Responsibilities- Evaluation of market players and business opportunity assessment.
- Patent landscape analysis, as a key source of state‑of‑the‑art in humanoid robotics.
- Analyze the architecture of humanoid and advanced robotic systems, with focus on mechanical and mechatronic components (e.g. actuation, transmission, structural parts, housing).
- Component teardown mapping of humanoid robotic systems against the SFS product and technology portfolio, assessing technical fit, manufacturability, scalability, and differentiation potential.
- Consolidate findings into structured analyses, comparison tables, and clear conclusions.
- Regular, structured updates to a steering board with interested business units.
- Travel to SFS production locations to understand capabilities, constraints, and strengths with internal SFS experts.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Robotics (in process).
- Experience doing extensive academic research.
- Prior experience with robotics required.
- Prior experience within a manufacturing environment preferred.
