Montefiore is a leading academic medical center focused on data‑driven innovation. The Senior Manager for Data Engineering will play a pivotal role in building and supporting enterprise‑wide data pipelines that enable evidence‑based decision making across the health system.
Responsibilities- Design, build, and automate robust, scalable data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and loading structured and unstructured data from diverse internal and external sources.
- Develop and support data models and schemas to support integration and analysis, promoting data engineering best practices and governance.
- Deliver high‑performance data products across clinical, operational, financial, and other functional areas to enable data‑driven decision making.
- Lead strategic thinking and design for Montefiore’s next‑generation data ecosystem.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and best practices for data engineering assets, supporting deployment, monitoring, and version control.
- Build rules‑driven data quality components that enhance observability and enable rapid remediation of data issues.
- Mentor and cultivate a collaborative, knowledge‑sharing team of data engineers.
- Partner with data scientists, BI developers, product managers, and application teams to translate data requirements into technical solutions.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in data engineering and modern data architecture, including high‑volume pipelines.
- At least 4+ years of experience with Snowflake; SQL expertise required.
- Proficiency with cloud‑based ELT tools (e.g., Matillion, dbt Cloud) and Python SDK development.
- Managerial experience leading and mentoring a team of data engineers.
- Ability to translate complex clinical, operational, financial, and administrative datasets into enterprise‑grade data products.
- Experience with AWS Cloud, S3, Dev Ops, Git, Oracle, and SQL Server.
- Experience with EPIC Cogito Analytics stack (Clarity, Caboodle, etc.) preferred.
- Knowledge of healthcare data, preferably health‑system domain.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
- Strategic thinking with structured execution.
- Linear, business‑outcome diagnostics to identify high‑value opportunities.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills with business leaders.
- Judgment and decision‑making in ambiguous contexts.
- Goal orientation with a focus on results.
- Relationship building and credibility with executives, peers, and subordinates.
