Mural Industrial Staffing is seeking an HVAC Service Technician on behalf of a well-established commercial, industrial, and refrigeration HVAC provider serving the York, Nebraska area.
This role is focused on commercial and industrial HVAC service, maintenance, and diagnostics — including large-tonnage commercial cooling systems, chillers, boilers, building controls, and small refrigeration equipment. The technician will be responsible for running service calls independently, troubleshooting complex equipment issues, and delivering professional service across a diverse account base.
This is an ideal opportunity for technicians who have commercial or industrial HVAC experience, enjoy varied and challenging fieldwork, and want to earn additional income through performance-based incentives.
Compensation Structure- Base hourly rate: $34.00 – $40.00/hour (based on experience and diagnostic ability)
- Overtime: 1.5x hourly rate
- On‑call pay: time and a half for emergency calls
- Holiday pay: 2x hourly rate
- 1% of all service work completed
- 1% commission on work the technician identifies and helps secure
- Service territory: 30‑minute radius around York, Nebraska
- Work mix: commercial HVAC, industrial cooling, and small refrigeration accounts
- Daily schedule: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM with 1‑hour lunch
- Day begins at the shop; take‑home vehicle eligibility after one year
- On‑call rotation: must be available for weekend emergency calls with a 1‑hour response window
- Diagnose, repair, and service commercial and industrial HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, rooftop units, and building management/control systems
- Service small refrigeration equipment, including reach‑in coolers, ice machines, and commercial kitchen refrigeration
- Perform preventative maintenance and system inspections across commercial and industrial accounts
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and controls‑related issues and identify root causes of failures
- Communicate findings and recommended solutions clearly to commercial clients and facility contacts
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and parts used
- Identify opportunities for additional service or replacement work
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in a clean and professional manner
- Represent the company professionally across all job sites
- Minimum 2+ years of hands‑on HVAC service experience
- Commercial and/or industrial HVAC background required — residential‑only experience is not sufficient for the majority of this work
- Comfort with electrical troubleshooting and control systems
- Ability to run service calls with a high level of independence
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Willingness to participate in on‑call rotation with 1‑hour response availability
- Lives within approximately 30 minutes of York, NE (Lincoln, NE would be ideal)
- EPA 608 Certification (Universal preferred)
- Full refrigeration background (reach‑in coolers, walk‑in coolers, ice machines, cold storage)
- Experience with building automation or BMS systems
- Industrial facility experience (ethanol plants, food processing, manufacturing)
- Experience with large‑tonnage commercial cooling equipment (20+ ton systems, chillers)
- Strong ability to identify and communicate additional service or replacement opportunities
