CNC Machinist (3-Axis Turning / VTL Contract)

Location: Sheffield

Rate: £36.00 to £39.00 per hour depending on shift

Overtime: £45.25 to £49.75 per hour after 37 hours

Contract: 3-month contract

Start: Immediate

Up to £39 per hour, overtime paid at nearly £50 per hour, and a contract where the work is already running.

This isn’t a role where you’re walking into a slow ramp‑up or unclear expectations. The work is there, the machines are running, and you’re brought in to support output from day one.

You’ll be working on 3‑axis CNC turning / VTL machines, running jobs, carrying out inspection, and keeping output consistent across your shift. You may be running more than one machine where required.

• Operating and setting 3-axis CNC Turning / VTL machines
• Reading and working from engineering drawings and specifications
• Machining components to tight tolerances (5 thou)
• Working with exotic materials and alloys
• Carrying out dimensional inspection using Verniers, micrometres and gauges
• Maintaining consistency and output across shifts
• Following strict quality standards including AS9100 and NADCAP
• Working to production targets and schedules
• Supporting continuous production during a busy period

• Strong CNC machining experience within turning or VTL
• Experience with Fanuc controls
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings confidently
• Comfortable working to tight tolerances
• Experience working with inspection equipment (Verniers, gauges, micrometres)
• Apprenticeship trained or equivalent industry experience
• Background in aerospace or similar high‑spec manufacturing is desirable
• You need to be someone who can get up to speed quickly, follow established processes, and work without close supervision.

The work is already in place and running. You’re not there to figure things out, you’re there to contribute straight away and keep production moving.

It’s a straightforward contract in a structured environment with clear expectations and strong rates throughout.
