We are currently looking to recruit an Electrician to work across West Yorkshire in our Bio Team within the Wastewater business area. This is a mobile worker role
Work TypePermanent. You’ll be working 37 hours per week. Out of hours, weekend working, and bank holidays will be worked as part of a structured stand‑by rota. Once fully trained you will be assessed for working on your own and you will be required to participate in an out‑of‑hours standby rota which will include evenings, weekends and overnight callouts – no more than 1 week in every 4
Key Duties- Undertake planned and reactive maintenance of electrical and mechanical assets across wastewater treatment and pumping installations as part of a mobile Bio Team
- Respond to emergency calls both in and out of hours on an on‑call rota
- Work unsupervised in remote locations, completing tasks within agreed timescales, quality and cost parameters
- Manage and prioritise your own workload and build and maintain relationships with operational customers, colleagues, suppliers and contract partners
- Conduct hazard risk assessments, produce method statements, and report on the company database
- Supervise approved Contract Partners, provide risk assessments and ensure permit‑to‑work compliance
- Use a Toughbook/iPad to capture all work activity and job status in line with workflow processes
- Assist in training and development of apprentices and less‑experienced team members
- Diagnose and repair faults on systems and plant, including industrial motors, starters and three‑phase systems
- Recognised Electrical Craft/Technician Apprenticeship plus a City & Guilds, ONC, BTEC, NVQ, HNC, HND or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Eng Tech
- Full valid driving licence (no more than six points)
- IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (City & Guilds 2382‑18)
- Comp Ex 1‑4
- HNC Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Safe isolation to the current IET regulations
- Time‑served industrial electrician experience
- Fault finding on control circuits up to the PLC
- IT literate (e.g., MS Office)
- Ability to produce maintenance reports
- Experience of fault finding with industrial motors and starters
- Experience of fault finding on industrial 3‑phase systems
- Experience of working with rotating equipment
- Experience of fault finding on LV control circuits
- Experience of pneumatics
- Work within ATEX standards
- Experience of maintaining UPS systems
- Fault finding experience of soft start or variable speed drives
- Fault finding experience of actuated valves
Ideally you have previous experience as an industrial electrician within the water or wastewater sectors or the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industries, with a proven track record maintaining and repairing three‑phase rotating machinery and control systems
Other Requirements- Work within confined spaces
- Pass strict medical criteria, including BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing and spirometry tests
- Pre‑employment checks include a Basic Disclosure Check and, if applicable, a Counter‑Terrorist or Security Check clearance
To assess your skills effectively, the selection process will include an online test, competency interview, short practical and written assessments
