As part of the custodial team, the facilities custodian is responsible for stocking consumables, ensuring the cleanliness of restrooms, common areas, and performing typical custodial duties.
Responsibilities- Level I:
Ensure all floors are clean, trash containers emptied, dust and disinfect surfaces and equipment. Refill restroom and break room soap, paper towels and toilet paper. Follow safety protocols and procedures. - Level II:
In addition to Level I duties, help handle and distribute cleaning chemicals to teammates. Clean windows, walls, workstations and other surfaces with appropriate tools. Assist in training Level I custodians. - Essential Job Functions:
- Keep property clean and orderly.
- Identify and communicate with management about repairs.
- Requisition supplies and equipment for repairs, replacement, cleaning, and maintenance duties.
- Understand waste and water disposal procedures.
- Follow safety principles for the use of chemical cleaners, tools, and power equipment to prevent damage.
- Operate vacuum, sweep floors, mop, and corded walk‑behind floor cleaning machine.
- Restroom cleaning, disinfection, and dusting.
- Use solvents and chemical cleaners correctly per safety guidelines.
- Know chemical solutions and dilution ratios.
- Maintain safety as top priority.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Interprets written and oral instructions.
- Works in team environment to resolve work issues.
- Basic shop math knowledge.
- Forklift certification preferred but not required.
- Effective communication in English.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred but not required.
Must occasionally exert push force up to 35 pounds, have good eyesight, hearing, and hand dexterity, identify and distinguish colors. May be exposed to noise, moving mechanical parts, oils/solvents, fumes, odors that may affect eyes, ears, nose, throat, and/or skin.
