English Language Courses in The Hague

The BSN Language Centre, The Hague:
The BSN Language Centre, part of The British School in The Netherlands, has offered English and Dutch courses to the international community for over 30 years. Situated in The Hague (less than one hour from Amsterdam and 30 minutes from Rotterdam), we provide a wide range of English classes at beginner to advanced levels to international students from around the world, as well as local ESL students. For your convenience, both day and evening classes are available.

English Language Courses:
We provide a wide range of English language courses from beginner to advanced levels (A1 - C2 on the Common European Framework for English).

Serving students from around the world, we have a programme of daytime and evening courses for adults at all levels, as well as for children & teenagers. 

There is free level testing available at the BSN Language Centre every Monday, late afternoon/early evening.


General English:
Courses available from Elementary (A1) Beginner level (0-A1) to Advanced plus (C2). In these courses, students study grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and the four key language skills of: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

• Lessons per week: 1 or 2 lessons per week
• Study options: Day, afternoon or evening
• Start dates: Flexible, all year round


Cambridge Exam Preparation:
We offer specialised preparation courses to help you gain the best result possible in the Cambridge English Language Assessment Main Suite of Examinations. Courses include:

• Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)
• Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE)
• Cambridge English Business (BEC) 


IELTS Exam Preparation:
The BSN Language Centre offers private lesson programmes for IELTS exam preparation. The lessons are based on the student’s personal needs and time-frame to help them reach their required band score.


English Conversation Courses:
Our conversation courses to give students the confidence to express themselves more fluently in English.

The classes can be taken alone, or in combination with a General English or Business English course. Lively conversation and discussion is the main aim, but there is also some language input and practice of other skills.


Private English Lessons:
Our private tuition programme is aimed at meeting your individual language learning needs. We offer a flexible framework which is guided by your schedule and your personal goals.

The programme is completely tailor-made to suit your wishes and enables progress in the language skills you need to develop.
Lessons are offered at a minimum of 10 hours and a duration of 1.5 hours per lesson. 


Business English:
Business English courses are aimed at working professionals or those seeking employment in which English is a requirement or is desired. Business English courses cover the key skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking), but the contexts all relate to the business world.

Our Business English classes are offered in the evenings at the British School locations in central The Hague and Voorschoten, as well as Leidschenveen. Please email through our Contact Us page for information on the course closest to you.


In-Company English Courses:
Offered on-site at our campus or off-site at your chosen location, our In-company English courses and workshops are tailor-made after an initial intake to suit the needs of employees and can be offered to both groups and individuals.

We also offer private lessons to prepare individuals for an international career or studies at an international school.


Intensive Summer English Course:
25 hours of language instruction in a concentrated period gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the language, gain confidence and become more at ease with English (especially speaking) in a short period of time.

- Duration: 2 weeks


English Classes for Children & Teens: 
We offer an English Language Summer School every July for children aged 5-16 years old.
