Dutch Language Courses in The Hague

BSN Language Centre, The Hague:
The BSN Language Centre is the dedicated language centre of The British School in The Netherlands. We offer General Dutch courses for adults at basic beginner to advanced level. Serving students from around the globe, our comprehensive range of daytime and evening Dutch courses for adults includes General and Intensive Dutch, Dutch Exam Preparation (NT2), and Dutch Conversation classes, and Online Dutch classes.

Dutch Language Courses for Adults:
Beginner to Advanced Levels. For local students, free level testing is available every Monday from 12.00 to 7.00 p.m.


General Dutch Courses:
Focusing on conversation and practice, our General Dutch courses run from Beginner level (0-A1) to Upper-Intermediate (B2 on the CEFR).

Students study grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and the 4 key skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking.

- Levels: Beginner to Intermediate (0-A1 to B2)
- Group size: 5-12 students
- Lessons per week: 1 or 2 lessons per week
- Lesson Times: Daytime or evening
- Duration: Minimum 1 month
- Start Dates: Flexible, all year round
- Minimum Age: 16


Private Dutch Lessons:
Our Private Dutch programme is aimed at meeting student's individual language learning needs. We offer a flexible framework which is guided by your schedule and personal goals. Lessons can take place at the Language Centre, your home or your chosen place of work.

- Lesson duration: Minimum 1.5 hours per lesson
- Course duration: Minimum 10 hours


Dutch (NT2) Exam Preparation:
Our NT2 training course prepares students to take the state exam (NT2 is a language test that determines your competency in Dutch as a second language). If you wish to work or study in the Netherlands, following the NT2 programme will be of benefit. 

Available to students of upper-intermediate level (B1-B2), this course has flexible start dates throughout the year. You will take one lesson per week for a minimum of one month.

For your convenience, both daytime and evening classes are available. 

The exam is divided into two programmes:
- Programme 1 is at the B1 level of the European Framework (CEFR).
- Programme 2 is at the B2 level of the European Framework (CEFR).


Dutch Conversation Classes:
Our conversation courses to give students the confidence to express themselves more fluently in Dutch. These classes can be taken alone, or in combination with a General Dutch or NT2 Exam Preparation course.


In-Company Courses:
Our In-company Dutch courses and workshops are tailor-made to suit the needs of employees and can be offered to groups and individuals. These courses can take place on-site at our campus or off-site at your chosen location.


Summer Intensive Dutch Course:
This 2 week course gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the language, gain confidence and become more at ease with Dutch (especially speaking) in a short period of time.

- Study options: Morning
- Duration: 2 weeks
- Minimum age: 16


Online Dutch Course:
This course is ideal for students who would like to learn Dutch but do not have the time to come to the BSN Language Centre, and want to study from home at their own pace. You can arrange for feedback on your learning progress by the teacher once or twice per week.

- Duration: 3-4 months
- Minimum Age: 16
- Progress: Monitored by the online tutor
