Java Developer – Things; Hybrid

We’re seeking an experienced Java Developer to join our Travel Things team in Barcelona or Milan (Hybrid).

This role involves working with our Prime-powered travel platform, which provides access to hotels, rail, flights, dynamic packages, car rental, and more, supported by a proprietary AI platform delivering a personalised service globally.

The Role’s Key Responsibilities and Tasks

• Able to code with Java 11/17 or any object-oriented programming language; we value skills over frameworks experience, with more than 2 years of relevant experience.
• Work with cutting-edge technologies including Java, Big Data (Kafka, Cassandra, Big Table, Redis, Neo4j), machine learning and Datamesh in a continuous delivery and cloud-based environment (Docker, Kubernetes and GCP). Monitoring is supported by Sonarqube and Datadog.
• Understand and apply best practices in your technical area. Learn domain and technologies to evolve data-driven capabilities and design pattern skills.
• Maintain a quality mindset by delivering correct and well-tested code.
• Contribute to a positive and inclusive team culture with constructive feedback and recognition.
• Collaborate effectively as a team player, sharing skills and knowledge.
• Continuously expand your skills and knowledge through learning.
• Fluent English required to operate in a multicultural environment.

• Experience with Applied AI Tools: Demonstrated comfort using practical AI tools such as Git Hub Copilot, ChatGPT, or other AI-powered coding assistants.
• Experimentation Mindset: Curiosity to explore and integrate emerging AI-driven solutions into software development workflows.
• AI-Enhanced Problem Solving: Ability to leverage AI tools to debug code, improve productivity, and streamline development.
• Adaptability and Learning Agility: Enthusiastic about learning and quickly adapting to new AI features and capabilities.
• Collaboration with AI: Interest in working with AI tools as pair programmers to complement traditional development practices.
