Overview
The British School of Barcelona (BSB) is a large, popular school in Castelldefels and Sitges with campuses in Barcelona. It offers the English National Curriculum, GCSEs, A levels, IB, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma, plus a significant enrichment programme. The school welcomes over 2000 pupils from more than 74 nationalities and employs more than 335 staff across three locations. In September 2026 a new campus will open for EYFS and Primary-aged students in the Maresme area.

About the RoleWe are looking for a permanent, full-time Futures Adviser to start as soon as possible in the Castelldefels campus. This is a full-time non-teaching position working closely with the Futures team to deliver university and careers guidance at BSB Castelldefels, with support at BSB City as required. The role involves guiding students and families through post-18 pathways and the full university application process (Spanish, European and international), delivering 1-1 guidance, coordinating events and workshops, and supporting transition to university.
The successful candidate will work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, manage application platforms, stay up to date with admissions developments, and contribute to the wider life of the secondary school.

Who We Are Looking ForEssential requirements
- Previous experience in university guidance, careers advice or university admissions (UK, European and/or international systems).
- Practical knowledge of application platforms such as UCAS, Common App, Studielink, CAO or similar.
- Experience working with students aged 15–19 and their families.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to give feedback to students on their written work.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- A proactive mindset and a real passion for helping others.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including occasional specific days to meet external deadlines.
- Confident use of digital platforms and systems (e.g. Unifrog or similar).
Desirable requirements
- A university degree (preferably in Psychology, Careers Guidance or a related field).
- Experience working in an international school with IB and/or A Level students.
- Knowledge of the Spanish university application system.
- Experience organising events such as university fairs, information evenings or parent sessions.
- Coaching or educational counselling skills.
- Working knowledge of Spanish.
- Experience in a non-teaching role within an educational setting.
