About the School – The British School of Barcelona (City)

The British School of Barcelona (BSB) is a great school in a wonderful location. We are an HMC school and were judged by a recent BSO (British Schools Overseas) inspection to be outstanding in every area, including quality of education, safeguarding, pupil welfare and academic outcomes.

BSB is a large, very popular school for children aged 3 to 18. Our curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum, and we offer a wide range of GCSEs, A levels and the International Baccalaureate Diploma, all alongside a significant enrichment programme.

Over 2000 pupils from more than 74 nationalities attend the school and over 315 staff work  are based in three locations, two just outside the city of Barcelona – in Castelldefels, where we have a Primary, Secondary and Pre‑University campus, and in the cosmopolitan town of Sitges, where we have another Primary campus. BSB City is in the heart of the city of Barcelona itself with a Foundation campus (built September 2021), and a brand‑new main campus which opened in September 2023.

The school now has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Teacher of History and Global Politics to join our fantastic team.

For September 2026, we are looking to recruit a Teacher of History and Global Politics for our City campus. We offer History at GCSE and History and Global Politics as part of the IB Diploma. The school’s location provides excellent possibilities for visits to sites of historical interest, and it is expected that the successful candidate really makes the most of the local opportunities available to students.

This position will be based at our City campus.

• Deliver engaging and challenging lessons to all key stages that link with the real world and which are aligned with department schemes of work.
• Assist in the process of curriculum development and delivery of an appropriate, comprehensive, high quality curriculum program at all key stages.
• Use homework and assessments to monitor and track pupil progress. Identify and support underachieving students and challenge the high achievers, implementing intervention as needed.
• Provide feedback and communicate effectively with parents, ensuring that both the student and parents are aware of student strengths and targets, across the year.
• Work collaboratively with the members of the department to ensure this thriving department continues to improve.
• Work with colleagues and members of the SLT to ensure that the school improvement plan priorities are effectively implemented.
