Lab Technician – Research Support

IRB Barcelona is seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to support our research teams in the Comparative Genomics group led by Dr. Toni Gabaldón.

• Prepare and label samples for analysis.
• Conduct routine laboratory tests and procedures.
• Record and analyze data accurately.
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Assist researchers with experiments and projects.

• Technical certificate or degree in Clinical and Biomedical science or a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology or related field.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a laboratory environment.
• Knowledge of laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Intermediate in English (both written and spoken).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Highly motivated, willing to keep on learning and undertake new challenges.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a demanding research environment.

• Experience in DNA/RNA extraction and quality procedures.
• Strong interest in Yeast and bacterial culturing.
• Skills in library preparation and DNA sequencing techniques.
• Motivated to work with liquid handling systems (robotics) for automated sample processing.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Skilled in the Microsoft Office suite.
