Product Designer, Tax

Stripe Tax is one of Stripe’s most requested products and has grown rapidly since it launched in 2021. The product solves an urgent need for almost everyone that sells something online. We provide solutions for calculating and reporting sales tax, VAT, and GST for over 40 countries. The product integrates seamlessly with other Stripe products but can also be used by merchants not using Stripe for payments.

Our design team creates the user experiences for tax calculations, no-code and low-code integrations, registrations, and reporting. These workflows touch some of the most used surfaces in the Stripe dashboard. Because it’s a newer offering, we have much to build and there are many opportunities for high impact.

In this role you’ll work on a mix of new feature development and product quality improvements to our most frequently used dashboard workflows. You’ll collaborate with product and engineering partners across several different teams to shape and execute a range of design solutions for our merchant users.

• Understand user workflows and pain points, and produce, test and iterate on high quality designs to solve user needs
• Partner closely with product, engineering, marketing and strategy partners to define a north star and product experience for new features
• Prototype user experiences for testing and internal communication
• Collaborate with teams across Stripe to craft a seamless dashboard user experience
• Conduct UXR to test design decisions before shipping
• Collaborate with our design systems teams to leverage and improve page templates and components

Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in our Bucharest, Romania site have an 80% in-office expectation, and those in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico and Bengaluru, India work 100% from the office.

Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is €68,000 - €102,000. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location.
