Product Engineer Ad​/D Administration

IRB Barcelona is seeking a Product Engineer to join the Information Technology and Services department. This position focuses on the development and optimization of technological solutions for both the scientific field and the administrative and operational management of the institute.

The candidate will contribute to the digitalization of processes, the development of software tools, and the integration of artificial intelligence‑based solutions to improve efficiency in biomedical research and the general management of IRB Barcelona.

• Product Ownership: Drive the entire lifecycle of internal tools, from initial discovery with stakeholders to deployment and long‑term maintenance.

• Low‑Code/High‑Logic Development: Build sophisticated, high‑performance internal applications and dashboards using Retool.

• Backend & Automation: Architect and maintain robust Python scripts and services to automate complex business workflows.

• Computing infrastructures: Implement automation solutions for data management and process optimization in computing infrastructures.

• Data Ecosystem Management: Design and optimize data pipelines and complex analytical queries within Big Query.

• System Integration: Act as the technical bridge between SAP Business One and the rest of our cloud stack, ensuring data integrity and real‑time syncing.

• API Orchestration: Implement and manage integrations with various Google APIs to streamline company‑wide productivity.

• Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify bottlenecks in business processes and propose technical solutions to solve them.

• Education: A University Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Retool Mastery: Proven experience building production‑grade internal tools, including custom components and complex resource queries.

• Python Proficiency: Strong backend skills, specifically for data processing, automation, and API consumption.

• Data Expertise: Advanced SQL skills and experience working with Big Query as a data warehouse.

• ERP Knowledge: Hands‑on experience with SAP Business One (Service Layer, DI API, or database schema).

• Google Cloud/Workspace APIs: Experience integrating Google Drive, Sheets, or Cloud Storage into automated workflows.

• Language: Professional proficiency in English; you are comfortable documenting technical processes and communicating in a global environment.

• Collaborative Mindset: You are a team player who thrives on feedback and enjoys working closely with non‑technical users to build the best possible product.

• Knowledge of artificial intelligence models and natural language processing, including Mistral, LLaMA, or Deep Seek.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and modern development environments.
• Experience in developing tools for managing scientific and administrative data.
