Descripción del trabajo

Almost every single thing that you eat, wear, or use (yes, even the screen you’re reading this on) is imported. Freight quite literally moves the world. And we’re helping it move even better.

Freightos (Nasdaq: CRGO) is the global booking and payment platform for the trillion-dollar freight industry. Hundreds of airlines and ocean liners, thousands of freight companies, and over ten thousand importers and exporters use our platform to move goods around the world faster and more efficiently. This matters. Efficient freight ultimately makes things cost a little bit less when you buy them in the store.

As the leading global freight booking platform for a massive industry, we’ve been crushing it with double‑digit growth, year after year, supporting well over one million shipments every year.

About the Role

You’re a data infrastructure expert with a passion for building scalable, reliable, and future‑ready platforms. As our Senior Data Infrastructure Engineer you will take responsibility for designing and evolving our global data infrastructure—ensuring it’s fast, cost‑effective, secure, and aligned with business goals. You’ll work across AWS and GCP environments, optimizing performance and driving architectural decisions that power Freightos’ internal analytics and customer‑facing products.

This is a highly strategic role that blends deep technical expertise with cross‑functional collaboration. You’ll partner with engineering, SRE, security, and legal teams to define best practices in data governance, quality, and access. You’ll also serve as a thought expert—promoting consistency, sharing knowledge, and helping us scale smarter.

If you're excited about building bold, cloud‑native data systems that help move the world of freight online—this is your opportunity.

Responsibilities

Support and execute the company‑wide database and data infrastructure strategy under the direction of the Senior Manager, Data, to ensure scalability, reliability, compliance, and cost efficiency as the business grows.

  • Serve as the principal database and data infrastructure advisor to Data leadership, providing expert guidance on company‑wide architecture decisions across AWS & GCP (Postgres, MySQL, Aurora DSQL, Click House, Single Store, Big Query).
  • Design, implement, and improve database and data platform architectures, ensuring the right technology is used for each workload and growth stage.
  • Ensure reliability and performance of all data products, including operational databases, analytics platforms, and data warehouses, in partnership with SRE and engineering teams.
  • Implement and operationalize data quality, governance, and compliance foundations, ensuring trusted and consistent data, including access controls, sensitive data handling, and regulatory readiness (GDPR).
  • Lead data knowledge and consistency execution, maintaining shared definitions across product, platform, and data (data dictionary, metrics definitions, schemas) to accelerate development, improve knowledge transfer, and ensure consistency between product behavior and data outputs.
Requirements Basic Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience in database administration, data engineering, or data infrastructure roles supporting production systems at scale.
  • Advanced SQL proficiency, with a strong understanding of performance tuning, data modeling, and complex analytical workloads.
  • Demonstrated experience across multiple database technologies, including relational, analytical (Big Query), and specialized databases in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Clickhouse).
  • Experience evaluating and recommending database architectures based on scalability, cost, and workload characteristics.
  • Strong background in data governance and quality practices, including data cataloging, metadata management, access control models, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Experience defining and implementing data quality standards for accuracy, consistency, and reliability of business‑critical data.
  • Experience optimizing database and data warehouse costs in cloud environments.
  • Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering and SRE.
