POSITION OVERVIEW  ICFO is seeking a  Head of Outreach  to lead and manage the Outreach team. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing outreach programs that connect ICFO with diverse audiences, including schools, teachers, university students, museums, artists, the general public, hospitals, and industry. Additionally, you will drive ICFO's involvement in international outreach initiatives and European consortia collaborations, and will work closely with researchers, educators, and external stakeholders to ensure impactful science communication and public engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES    Strategic Leadership :
Develop and implement a comprehensive outreach strategy aligned with ICFO’s mission and objectives.
Educational Outreach :
Oversee programs that engage schools, teachers, and university students, fostering scientific curiosity and promoting careers in photonics.
Public Engagement :
Design and execute outreach initiatives aimed at museums, artists, the general public, hospitals, and industry to enhance awareness and understanding of photonics.
International Outreach :
Lead ICFO’s participation in outreach activities with integral reach, ensuring collaboration with international institutions and initiatives.
European Consortia :
Manage outreach activities within European projects and consortia, fostering partnerships with research institutions, policy makers, and other stakeholders.
Team Management :
Supervise and mentor the Outreach team, ensuring the successful execution of programs and events.
Stakeholder Collaboration :
Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, universities, cultural institutions, funding bodies, and industry partners.
Content Development :
Oversee the creation of high-quality educational materials, digital content, and public engagement campaigns.
Impact Assessment :
Monitor and evaluate outreach initiatives to measure their effectiveness and optimize future efforts.
Diversity and Inclusion Dimension :
Ensure that outreach initiatives incorporate a broadening perspective, especially gender, promoting diversity and inclusion in science communication and engagement activities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED   Advanced degree (PhD, Master’s, or equivalent) in Science, Communication, Education, or a related field.
Proven experience (minimum 5-7 years) in science outreach, public engagement, or education, preferably in a research or academic environment.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and coordinate a multidisciplinary team.
Experience in managing outreach initiatives within European consortia or international collaborations.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts for diverse audiences.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute innovative outreach strategies and programs.
Fluency in English, Spanish and Catalan.

CONDITIONS  This is a full‑time permanent position. The contract offered will be interim if the Oferta Pública d’Aprovació is not approved at the time of incorporation.
A competitive salary within ICFO’s salary scales will be offered, commensurate with the seniority of the applicant.
