Summary:
As a Health & Safety Manager for FIFA World Cup 26™, you will serve as the Health & Safety subject matter expert for On Location–operated venues across Mexico, ensuring the effective implementation of FIFA Health & Safety requirements and full compliance with local regulatory standards. Based in Mexico City, you will support venue leadership, contractors, and operational teams to deliver a safe, compliant, and well-documented working environment throughout all phases of tournament operations.
You will play a critical role in translating FIFA Health & Safety frameworks and Mexican occupational safety regulations into practical, site-level execution, supporting inspections, audits, incident management, and continuous risk mitigation across venues.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Health & Safety Manager for FIFA World Cup 26™, you will serve as the Health & Safety subject matter expert for On Location’s venues in Mexico, ensuring the effective implementation of FIFA Health & Safety requirements and compliance with Mexican labor and workplace safety laws. You will support venue management teams in executing Health & Safety programs across all operational areas, from build and event operations through dismantle.
This position is highly collaborative, requiring daily interface with Venue Management, FIFA Health & Safety counterparts, contractors, vendors, and government authorities. You will monitor, document, and report on Health & Safety performance, proactively identifying risks and implementing corrective actions to maintain safe working conditions across all sites.
Act as the primary Health & Safety point of contact for On Location venues in Mexico.
Implement and oversee FIFA Health & Safety site requirements across all assigned venues.
Support venue leadership with Health & Safety resources, guidance, and best-practice recommendations.
Ensure compliance with Mexican labor, occupational health, and workplace safety laws enforced by the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS).
Develop, implement, and maintain country-specific occupational health and safety programs, procedures, and standard operating protocols (SOPs).
Establish and support the Workplace Safety and Hygiene Committee in accordance with local regulations.
Conduct risk assessments, site inspections, and audits of subcontractors, vendors, and operational work areas.
Serve as the primary liaison for government Health & Safety inspections, including preparation, coordination, and follow-up actions.
Monitor Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards and compliance across venues and work sites.
Investigate, document, and report incidents, injuries, and near misses, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Maintain accurate Health & Safety records, reports, and documentation in alignment with FIFA and local regulatory requirements.
Develop and support emergency response and evacuation planning and related training (subject to FIFA remit).
Monitor vendor and contractor Health & Safety compliance and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Administer the OSHENS incident reporting program in Mexico.
Support human rights grievance mechanisms related to Health & Safety investigations.
Coordinate with FIFA Health & Safety counterparts and internal stakeholders as required.
Provide on-site Health & Safety support during build, event, and dismantle phases as needed.
Assist with the overall Health & Safety Implementation program across all venues as needed.
Experience / Qualifications Needed:
5–8 years of experience in occupational health & safety, venue operations, construction safety, or large-scale event environments.
Proven experience implementing Health & Safety programs in compliance with local labor and occupational safety regulations, preferably within Mexico.
Strong working knowledge of STPS requirements and Mexican occupational health and workplace safety standards.
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and hands-on experience.
Professional Health & Safety certifications (NEBOSH, OSHA, ISO 45001, or equivalent) preferred.
Fluent in Spanish and English (written and verbal).
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage documentation, reporting, and compliance tracking.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with venue teams, contractors, and government authorities.
Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-pressure environments with strong judgment and decision-making skills.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, with the ability to learn additional software programs as needed.
Ability to travel between venues within Mexico as required.
Ability to pass Accreditation process.
* This role will be paid as a weekly rate, based on 40 hours per week*
