Packet Engineering Specialist

STAND 8 provides end-to-end IT solutions and staffing services to enterprise partners across North America, with operational presence in Mexico supporting a wide range of technology, engineering, and business roles.  The Packet Engineering Specialist is responsible for designing and decommissioning end-to-end network circuits to support the delivery and removal of services. This role focuses on monitoring network capacity, ensuring optimization, and resolving complex telecommunications challenges.

The specialist works closely with internal teams to coordinate provisioning activities and maintain accurate network records while supporting a high-volume, technically dynamic environment.

Work within existing routers and switches to activate or deactivate ports, install or remove circuit configurations, and manage port and equipment labeling.
Maintain facility inventory systems to ensure accurate and complete facility assignments and removals.
Identify network congestion and notify engineering or planning teams as needed.
Assist engineers in developing and revising internal procedures related to installations and disconnections.
3+ years in a telecommunications circuit design role encompassing all aspects of circuit design from order acceptance to published circuit layout records for all types of circuits.
~ Hands-on knowledge of telecommunications equipment configuration.
~ Working knowledge of network interface devices is a plus.

Experience with CRM and network inventory database applications is a plus.
~ In-depth knowledge of telecommunications standards and protocols.
~ High-level understanding of network configuration and interworking.
~ Practical knowledge of Wavelength, Ethernet, and IP network technologies.
~ Competency in navigating various database applications and Microsoft software applications such as Excel, Visio, and Word.
~ Fluent English (written and spoken) required.
