Head of Private Markets Portugal - Wholesale Banking

Role Summary

We are looking for a Head of Private Markets Spain & Portugal – Wholesale Banking. The role reports to the Head of Sector Coverage Spain & Portugal, and is part of the Financial Sponsors Group (FSG) within EMEA. The Head will develop multi‑product financing solutions for financial sponsors, coordinate cross‑product teams, manage relationships with private equity, infrastructure and real estate clients, and support portfolio and capital allocation.

• Undertake the banker role for selected FSG clients, engaging senior stakeholders and driving strategic discussions.
• Lead client relationships, owning the portfolio of assigned clients and identifying cross‑buy opportunities.
• Coordinate internally with Leveraged Finance, Corporate Finance, Fund Finance, Financial Markets, Transaction Services and other Sector teams.
• Support commercial and credit committee applications and organize internal deal teams for origination.
• Supervise account planning and performance reviews to allocate resources and optimize portfolio management.
• Contribute to KYC onboarding, remediation and centre‑of‑excellence initiatives.
• Collaborate with Acquisition Finance, Sectors and Corporate Finance to set strategy and execute business plans.
• Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of diversity and inclusion.

• Minimum 10years in investment or corporate banking, Financial Markets and Transaction Services.
• Strong knowledge of the financial sponsor product suite and appetite to develop in particular fields.
• Experience in credit risk, compliance and governance.
• Excellent communication skills and a track record of building relationships.
• Preferably a network of contacts within the financial sponsor universe.
