Description & Requirements

Job Description

Company Overview

AESC is a global leader in lithium‑ion and LFP battery technology, with a fast‑growing footprint across Japan, the UK, France, China, and the USA—soon expanding in Spain with a €1‑billion gigafactory in Extremadura to open by 2026 and create up to 900 direct jobs in phase one. The Spanish facility is designed as the first net‑zero industrial park gigafactory in the country, aligning with AESC’s mission to pioneer sustainable battery manufacturing.

Role

Purpose

As a MEP Engineer, you will serve as the Technical Lead for facility MEP systems, taking full responsibility for the end‑to‑end technical lifecycle management of critical infrastructure including HVAC, process gases, plumbing and drainage, and electrolyte delivery systems—from design and construction through to operations and maintenance. You will ensure all systems meet the stringent process requirements of lithium‑ion battery production (e.g., ultra‑low dew point dry rooms, clean rooms) from an operations‑friendly and long‑term reliability perspective, enabling safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities

During the Project Construction Phase:

  • Design Review and Technical Assurance
    • Conduct comprehensive reviews of detailed designs for HVAC, process gases, plumbing and drainage, electrolyte delivery, compressed air, and related systems, focusing on operations convenience, reliability, and total lifecycle cost.
    • Ensure designs facilitate daily inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment replacement, with adequate access space and ergonomic operational interfaces.
    • Lead technical evaluations for ultra‑low dew point environmental control solutions in core areas such as dry rooms and electrolyte filling workshops, cleanroom airflow design, process cooling water systems, specialty gas supply systems, and centralized electrolyte supply and distribution systems.
    • Provide optimization recommendations for critical equipment selection, piping layout, valve and instrument configuration, balancing initial investment with long‑term operational costs.
  • Tendering and Coordination
    • Lead or participate deeply in technical coordination for tendering MEP work packages such as HVAC, piping, and electrolyte delivery, defining requirements for equipment reliability, spare parts commonality, and operations and maintenance support in tender documents.
    • Coordinate interfaces between MEP contractors and with other disciplines to ensure final installation aligns with best practices for operations.
  • Construction Supervision and Quality Control
    • Supervise the installation quality and progress of relevant MEP systems, with particular attention to key details impacting future operations such as piping cleanliness, valve operability, instrument visibility, and equipment labeling.
    • Ensure construction methods and acceptance criteria meet requirements for long‑term reliable system operation.
  • Commissioning and Acceptance Management
    • Represent the end user in leading commissioning and acceptance of relevant systems, ensuring performance meets design requirements and that systems are maintainable.
    • Review commissioning plans and test procedures to verify system reliability and operational convenience.
    • Witness critical performance tests to ensure stable achievement of system parameters.

During the Project Operation and Maintenance Phase:

  • System Handover and Standardization
    • Ensure smooth handover of relevant MEP systems from the project team to the operations team, guaranteeing complete technical documentation and organizing systematic training.
    • Establish and refine standard operating procedures, maintenance plans, and emergency response protocols based on reliability‑centered maintenance strategies.
  • Daily Operations Management and Technical Support
    • Be responsible for daily operation management of relevant systems, establishing a key performance indicator monitoring framework.
    • Lead the team in executing reliability‑oriented maintenance activities, analyzing root causes of failures, and implementing corrective and improvement measures.
    • Provide system operational data support for energy management and process optimization
