Are you someone who thrives on structure and enjoys being at the heart of operations? Do you have a knack for connecting the dots and making things happen? If so, our Duty Station Manager role might be the perfect fit for you! We are Scandinavian Airlines System, SAS. Headquartered in Sweden, we operate 134 aircraft and last year we flew 25 million people to more than 130 destinations in over 40 countries.

As we embark upon a period of growth and transformation that includes new ownership and digital transformation, there has never been a more exciting time to join us. We celebrate diversity and are proud of our inclusive workplace. Join us to experience why our employees stay an average of 7.8 years with us.

As a Duty Station Manager, you will:

Play a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient, and on‑time airport operations. You will be responsible for supervising ground handling operations, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and driving performance to meet SAS' high standards. In this role, you’ll be at the frontline of our operation, solving problems, optimizing processes, and delivering top‑notch service to our passengers.

Challenges you will work on:

In this exciting and dynamic role, you will oversee airport operations for the Canary Islands and Funchal during the winter months and support other airports in Europe during the summer months (for a planned period), both strategically important markets for SAS. You will tackle the challenge of ensuring punctuality and safety for over 10,000 annual departures. As the main point of contact at these airports, you will work closely with ground handling partners, subcontractors, airport authorities, and regulatory bodies to optimize daily operations and solve issues efficiently.

Your ability to collaborate and lead by example will be key to maintaining high standards. This is your opportunity to have an individual impact on helping thousands of passengers reach their destinations safely and on time. In this role you will report to the Station Manager and Head of Regional Line Stations.

The Team:

You will be part of a high‑performing, close‑knit team within SAS' Global Line Stations, under the Ground Operations division. Our team values collaboration, operational excellence, and proactive problem‑solving. We work together to deliver safe, efficient, and customer‑focused airport services while driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring safe and punctual operations at all airports.
  • Closely monitoring daily operations, including extra, ad‑hoc, and charter flights.
  • Managing and negotiating with third parties and subcontractors in the event of non‑performance.
  • Securing continuous updates of local procedures, coordinating operational procedures and issues between SAS and subcontractors.
  • Checking and validating invoices, identifying any inconsistencies or errors.
  • Overseeing station performance and reporting, including daily, weekly, monthly, and historical performance metrics.
  • Continuously recommending and implementing new processes to improve performance, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
  • Acting as Emergency Response Coordinator when required.
  • Ensuring compliance with SAS performance standards and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Liaising with Airport Authorities and other airline partners to explore methods for continuous operational improvement.
To be successful, we believe you have:
  • Extensive experience in Airport Operations with a strong desire to continue growing your career.
  • Solid understanding of SMS (Safety Management Systems) and quality systems.
  • Broad knowledge of regulations, laws, and industry agreements, including IATA SGHA and SLAs.
  • Familiarity with Altea DCS and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with budget monitoring.
