Financial & Tax Accountant - Renewable Energy

We are looking for a hands‑on and detailed oriented Financial Tax Accountant to join our finance team in the renewable energy sector in Spain. This role is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys operational accounting while also having strong knowledge of Spanish tax compliance related to utility scale solar assets.

Reporting directly to the Head of Financial Control and working within an international finance team of 5 FTE, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting activities, managing tax filings, and ensuring full compliance across operational solar projects.

Key responsibilities

Accurately record and maintain day‑to‑day financial transactions

Manage accounts payable, payment remittances, and treasury activities

Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash movements

Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes

Prepare and review general ledger reconciliations

Proven experience in preparing financial statements and audit documents for external auditors

Ensure compliance with Spanish accounting and tax regulations

Prepare and file tax returns including VAT, CIT, electricity taxes, and other renewable‑energy‑related tax obligations

Collaborate with operational, project, and external stakeholders

Support ad‑hoc financial and reporting activities for investors

What we are looking for

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MSc or MBA is a plus)

Minimum 5‑6 years of relevant accounting and tax experience

Experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, construction, or other project-driven industries is highly preferred

Strong understanding of Spanish GAAP and Spanish tax compliance

Proven experience handling tax forms and reporting obligations related to operational solar assets or energy companies

Hands‑on mentality with the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment

Experience with Business Central or similar ERP systems and advanced Excel skills

Professional fluency in both Spanish and English
