Insulet is a medical device company that has been improving patient lives through its Omnipod® insulin management system. The Senior Accountant role will support the International Accounting team in Madrid (and potentially Portugal) and will provide close and local statutory reporting for the Spanish affiliate, working with the Senior Manager of Accounting in the Netherlands.

Position Overview  The Senior Accountant will be part of the international accounting team, managing accounting entries, documents, payment information and recording financial transactions for group reporting and local statutory reporting. The role supports monthly, quarterly, and annual closing, financial reporting, and internal control compliance (SOX).
Responsibilities   Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing and internal reporting process (US GAAP) by preparing journal entries in SAP and monitoring entries posted by other accounting functions.
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts.
Reconcile T&E entries with payments, driving continuous improvements of T&E accounting.
Analyze monthly and quarterly fluctuations in operating expenses and balance sheet.
Assist with completion of internal controls associated with areas of responsibility.
Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes.
Lead statutory processes and preparation of financial statements for the Spanish affiliate, and provide assistance with statutory closings and audits for other EMEA entities.
Provide support for accounting for new business initiatives, as needed.
Assist with various projects and ad‑hoc reporting.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications   Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
Relevant accounting experience in a fast‑growing multinational environment and/or at SEC‑registered entities (public company).
Strong accounting knowledge (both US GAAP and PGC).

Experience with preparation of financial statements.
Awareness of Sarbanes‑Oxley legislation.

Strong experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
Knowledge of Concur expense reporting tool is an advantage.

Good knowledge of Office 365 programmes (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Strong command of Spanish and English (verbal and written); other European languages are an advantage.
