Descripción del trabajo
The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical capabilities, a proactive mindset, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders both locally and at the Group level.
Responsibilities
Transnational Tax Management:
Oversee and manage all cross‑border and transnational tax matters for the region, including maintaining and updating Group transfer pricing documentation, managing corporate tax risks relating to global mobility and cross‑border working arrangements, and ensuring readiness and compliance for Pillar 2 global minimum tax requirements.
Tax Policies & Best Practices:
Define, implement, and monitor EU‑wide tax policies, standardized processes, and best practices for tax returns, computations, and payments across Spain, France, and Italy to mitigate tax risks.
External Advisor Coordination:
Act as the primary point of contact and coordinator for external tax consultants across the three European countries, ensuring high‑quality delivery, optimised tax advisory support, and efficiency in external spend.
Local Accounting Team Oversight:
Review, support, and coordinate the day‑to‑day tax duties executed by local accounting teams, including overseeing corporate tax computations, Insurance Premium Taxes (IPT), and VAT payments and returns.
Group Alignment & Reporting:
Maintain a strong dotted‑line relationship with the Head of Group Tax in the UK, aligning local European tax strategies with global Group policies, supporting M&A initiatives, and assisting with local tax authority enquiries as they arise.
Legislation & Advisory:
Monitor new and emerging local and international tax legislation (including corporate criminal offence regulations) to ensure the business remains fully compliant, and provide clear, practical tax advice to support commercial and strategic decisions across the European business units.
Requirements
Certification (Highly Valued):
Chartered Tax Advisor or Chartered Accountant qualification (CTA, ACA, ACCA, CPA, ROAC, or local equivalent) is highly valued.
Experience:
6–8+ years of professional tax experience, preferably gained within an international corporate environment (in‑house), ideally at a major insurance firm or a Big 4 firm specialising in corporate/international tax. Proven experience handling cross‑border tax issues, transfer pricing, and indirect taxes (VAT/IPT).
Technical Knowledge:
Strong technical background in European corporate taxation and international tax frameworks (OECD guidelines, Pillar 2, Global Mobility), with a good understanding of insurance‑specific tax environments such as Insurance Premium Tax.
Languages:
Full professional fluency in English (C1 level minimum) is essential for Group interaction. Professional proficiency in Spanish, French, or Italian is highly advantageous given the scope of the business.
Core Competencies
Autonomy & Proactivity:
Self‑motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently across different jurisdictions.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to influence stakeholders, external vendors, and finance teams at all levels of management.
Analytical Mindset:
Strong problem‑solving capabilities to go beyond the numbers, identifying tax risks and structural opportunities that add strategic value.
Planning & Resiliency:
Strong commitment to meeting strict regulatory deadlines through solid planning and organisation, showing adaptability in a dynamic, multi‑country environment.
Flexibility:
Open to full‑time or part‑time applicants.
This position can be located in Spain, France, or Italy.
