J Postdoctoral Scholar

Overview

CEMFI is recruiting two Postdoctoral Researchers with a PhD in Economics or Finance, a strong commitment to research, and prior experience in the areas of Energy and Environmental Economics and/or Empirical Industrial Organization. The positions are funded by the European Research Council Advanced Grant ERC‑2023‑ADG Project  — ENERGY‑IN‑TRANSITION, titled "Socio‑Economic Challenges and Opportunities of the Energy Transition" led by Professor Natalia Fabra, as well as the Project financed by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities CPP
2024‑011557. These positions are for one or two years, starting in September 2026, with the possibility of extension to a third year.

• Contribute to the activities of the research group in the form of research assistance and joint research comparable to a standard teaching load.
• Participate in the activities of the research group (seminars, workshop, lunch meetings).
• Further their own research agenda in the area of energy and environmental economics and sustainable finance.
• No teaching duties involved.

• Hold a PhD in Economics or Finance (or be close to completing it) from a highly‑ranked university.
• Have excellent qualifications as well as outstanding own research focus on empirical tools; proficiency in programming is highly welcome.

• Full‑time position.
• Based at CEMFI in Madrid, Spain.
• Duration: 1 or 2 years, from September 1st, 2026 to August 31st, 2027, or August 31st, 2028, with the possibility of extension for a third year.
