's IEU Counseling is looking for a Coordinator, Special Educational Needs (Part-time) to join its team!

Special educational needs (SEN) comprise learning disorders, cognitive and emotional difficulties, and sensory and physical disabilities that hinder a student’s learning and academic performance. IE University’s Functional Diversity Office operates under the Office of the Vice-Rector of Student and Academic Experience to facilitate in-class special accommodations for students, deliver training to the academic community on SEN-related topics, and provide diagnostic testing for certain types of learning disorders.

We are looking for candidates to fill one (1) part-time position to lead, coordinate, and provide educational support services to IE University’s undergraduate and postgraduate academic community (students, faculty, and staff).

We are looking for a person to join a full-time position in Madrid - IE Tower

Responsibilities

Your role as a Coordinator, Special Educational Needs (Part-time) will involve:

In class accommodations:

  • Process special accommodations requests, from the evaluation of medical documents submitted by applicants to one-on-one interviews with them, the issuance of the corresponding resolution, and follow-up of its implementation.

  • Liaise with the academic management teams to ensure a seamless process from the moment a student requests an accommodation until it is implemented in the classroom.

  • Coordinate closely with the IEU Counseling Office to monitor cases that involve psychological difficulties.

  • Work closely with the IT Department to streamline the logistics and administrative steps involved in the accommodations request process in a web-based information management system.

  • Liaise with the Department of General Services to continuously find ways of improving

    accessibility to the University’s campuses for people with disabilities or impairments.

  • Regularly review and update the special accommodations catalog offered by the University in accordance with the latest research findings and Spanish law.

Training:

  • Design and deliver tailored psycho-educational materials and workshops about neurodivergence and functional diversity in and outside of the classroom to increase knowledge and awareness among the faculty, staff, and students.

  • Provide one-on-one study technique coaching sessions, available to students who receive special accommodations

Diagnostic Testing:

  • Design, plan, and roll out an in-house diagnostic testing service specialized in certain types of learning disorders
