At our lab in Hamme, Belgium we are looking for a Work preparator position within our production department. As a Work Preparator, you are the crucial link between the production department and cross‑functional project teams. You are responsible for preparing, planning, and monitoring both internal production processes and external deliveries. You ensure seamless execution of production activities within a machining environment where processes such as turning, milling, welding, and sheet metal are applied to manufacture parts.
Key Job Responsibilities Production Planning & Coordination- Plan and monitor internal production planning for machining processes (turning, milling, welding, sheet metal)
- Create detailed production routings that provide the shop floor with correct production steps and specifications
- Coordinate with external suppliers to track delivery dates and align with project timelines
- Order raw materials for internal production and manage inventory levels
- Work closely with engineers from the start of projects to assess the manufacturability of parts
- Identify potential issues and define solutions to ensure smooth production
- Translate technical drawings into feasible production processes based on thorough knowledge of machining techniques
- Represent the production department in multiple concurrent projects
- Monitor project planning and provide production input to keep the schedule clear for all departments
- Work closely with the project team to thoroughly prepare projects before they go into production
- Proactively escalate potential bottlenecks or delivery risks
- Perform pre‑calculations of production times to support accurate project planning
- Perform post‑calculations to analyze actual versus planned performance
- Identify improvement opportunities based on production data
- Thorough knowledge of machining production processes:
- CNC Turning
- CNC Milling
- Welding (various welding techniques)
- Sheet metal
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP experience is a strong plus)
- Understanding of production capacity planning and scheduling principles
- Knowledge of mechanical production processes (e.g., milling, turning, welding…)
- Knowledge of ERP systems, SAP is a plus
- Experience in Microsoft Office
- Communication skills in Dutch and English, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently
- Proactive approach to problem solving
