Investment Counselor, UHNW - Iberian Market

We are currently seeking an Investment Counselor to join our team in Madrid focusing on the Iberian market. You will closely collaborate with our Private Bankers to provide investment services to Citi’s European ultra‑high net worth clients and family offices.

The role involves advising clients on asset allocation and implementing it through multiple solutions, including capital markets and managed solutions, using a broad range of traditional (liquid) and alternative (illiquid) asset classes. Citi Private Bank offers a global investment product platform, and the Investment Counselor acts as the primary conduit to it.

• Establish, grow, and manage investment relationships with ultra‑high net worth clients and single family offices, each with an Assets Under Management of $25MM or more.
• Implement and oversee investment solutions, providing advice and guidance on markets and actionable investment ideas.
• Build trusting relationships with existing ultra‑high net worth clients, fostering new client and investment relationships.
• Collaborate with a wide array of internal partners, including coverage teams, investment specialists, risk, and compliance.
• Combine depth in traditional and alternative investments with wealth planning and private banking services to optimize client service and cross‑marketing opportunities.
• Work across multiple investment solutions and asset classes in a multi‑jurisdictional environment (MiFID / AIFMD).
• Engage and advise clients on brokerage activity, executing trades seamlessly.
• Assess risk appropriately in business decisions, safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

• Competency in Bloomberg, Fact Set, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Broad base of execution skills.
• Advanced judgment and in‑depth analytical ability to solve problems and develop innovative solutions.

• Experience in the financial services sector, preferably trading, asset management, or financial advisory.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills at all levels and across functions.
• Ability to cope with ambiguity and change.
• Willingness to challenge the status quo and continuously optimize processes and tasks in one's area of responsibility.

• Post‑graduate degree or equivalent; exceptional candidates with relevant experience may be considered.
• Pre‑registered CFA or equivalent registration preferred.
• Expected to complete relevant regulatory qualifications.
• Fluency in English and Spanish.

This role is a “Controlled Function” role as defined by the Central Bank of Ireland Reform Act 2010 and Principal Regulations 2011, including Regulations 2014 and 2015.
