Summary – basic function of the role

We are seeking a CAD Designer to join our Engineering team in Madrid. This role reports to the Engineering Manager and supports CAD design activities across new product development programmes. Working closely with engineers, the CAD Designer will contribute to the development of models, assemblies, and drawings from concept through to production. This position plays an important role within the new product development team at Enerpac and supports the delivery of high‑quality, manufacturable design solutions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create CAD models and drawings for components, electrical schematics, and complex assemblies in collaboration with engineers, ensuring designs meet development specifications from concept through production.
  • Support product assembly and testing activities related to assigned projects and products.
  • Assist in identifying, developing, and integrating parts and assemblies into newly developed products.
  • Collaborate with engineers on engineering changes and releases related to product development and customisation.
  • Support the design or adaptation of products, fixtures, and tools, considering a range of manufacturing processes including molded metal and plastic parts, machined components, welded assemblies, and additive manufacturing.
  • Maintain complex assemblies and bills of materials (BOMs) within the Product Data Management system and support change management activities under the guidance of engineers.
  • Implement design changes to existing products driven by customer requirements, warranty feedback, and cost optimisation initiatives, while contributing to the development of drafting standards, work practices, and design guidelines.
  • Review work assigned on projects, including layouts, details, and calculations, to ensure accuracy and alignment with company engineering and drafting standards.
Education and Experience
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑based environment and communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently within a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and the ability to quickly develop knowledge of new products, systems, and tools.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and its appropriate application, with attention to detail and effective checking and peer review practices.
  • Ability to apply sound judgement and problem‑solving skills in design‑related decision‑making.
  • Solid understanding of accepted design methods, design principles, and foundational engineering and simulation concepts.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal, casting, and injection molding.
  • Experience with advanced surface modelling is desirable.
  • Experience with surfacing and plastics design is desirable.
  • Associate degree or a minimum of 7 years of equivalent relevant work experience.
  • More than 6 years of experience using CAD tools such as CAD, AutoCAD, and Pro‑E CREO is preferred. Experience with engineering change order and workflow management tools (e.g. Windchill) is an advantage.
  • Experience with electrical assemblies and tools such as EPLAN Electric or Altium is an advantage. Knowledge of machining and manufacturing processes is desirable, with particular emphasis on injection molding.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English, both written and verbal, is required.
