• About the Role:
  
  Reporting to the Global Technical Manager and working closely with the Energy Management, Development, Grid Connection, and Engineering teams, you will be responsible for the technical design and optimization of standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and hybrid renewable energy projects combining battery storage with photovoltaic and wind generation assets.
• The successful candidate will play a key role throughout all project phases, from greenfield development through permitting, detailed design, financing, and ready-to-build status, ensuring projects are technically optimized, commercially competitive, and compliant with applicable regulations and grid requirements.

• Design and optimize standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and hybrid projects integrating battery storage with solar PV and wind generation facilities.
• Perform detailed system sizing and technical design
  , including determination of battery power (MW), apparent power (MVA), reactive power capability (MVAr), storage capacity (MWh), duration, and operating strategies.
• Develop and maintain energy modelling studies using HOMER Front and other simulation tools to evaluate project economics, technical performance, and optimization opportunities.
• Work closely with the Energy Management and Commercial teams to ensure battery operating strategies support PPA obligations
  , merchant revenue optimization, ancillary services participation, and energy trading requirements.
• Carry out battery degradation assessments
  , lifetime performance modelling, and augmentation planning to ensure long-term asset performance and compliance with project financial assumptions.
• Define technical requirements and specifications for battery systems
  , power conversion systems, transformers, medium-voltage infrastructure, and grid connection equipment.
• Prepare preliminary and detailed engineering designs for BESS facilities
  , including switching stations, substations, and auxiliary systems.
• Coordinate and develop civil engineering layouts for battery projects, including site access, drainage systems, fire safety provisions, equipment positioning, internal roads, and operational areas.
• Optimize photovoltaic plant layouts using PVCase and support wind farm layout optimization using Wind Pro to maximize project performance and land utilization.
• Support grid connection studies and evaluate compliance with grid code requirements related to active and reactive power capability, frequency response, and system stability.
• Prepare technical documentation for permitting, grid applications, environmental assessments, financing, and construction phases.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across different countries to ensure projects meet technical, regulatory, environmental, and commercial requirements.
• Collaborate with procurement team to choose and negotiate best technical and commercial option across main BESS suppliers.
