An Indian subsidiary of , a US-based MNC in the payments business, has an opening for an Associate Corporate Counsel with 3-5 years of post‑qualification experience in implementing privacy and data protection requirements, technology law, and related legal advisory. The position is based in Bangalore and is fixed‑term 3 years. The ACC reports to a Corporate Counsel / Senior Corporate Counsel.
The Attorney will partner with a cross‑functional legal team and business operations clients to achieve operational excellence, advise on a range of issues to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including corporate secretarial compliance, draft and negotiate contracts. The attorney will also manage privacy initiatives, coordinate with internal and global teams, and work closely with business, product, technology, and legal teams. The role requires excellent written and oral communication skills as it involves direct contact with principal business owners.
Keyjob responsibilities
- Provide ongoing legal counseling and advice on data privacy, technology law, company secretarial and regulatory compliance.
- Support development, review, and maintenance of privacy arrangements including data sharing agreements, privacy policies, notices, consent frameworks, and internal SOPs.
- Monitor regulatory developments in data protection and assess their impact on the business.
- Provide privacy and data protection advice for new products, features and business initiatives.
- Apply project management skills.
- Analyze and assess business processes, understand requirements, draft scope of contract, and operate autonomously while communicating laterally and upwardly.
- Exercise strong legal and business judgment.
- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Exhibit effective interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset to coordinate complex issues and projects with diverse levels of management.
- 3+ years of legal experience.
- LL.B. from a recognized university in India.
- Associate Member (ACS) with Institute of Company Secretaries India (ICSI) with a valid membership.
- Experience in a mix of corporate law firm and in‑house work.
- Experience working with financial services partners.
