As a Senior Azure Fin Ops Engineer, you will be a key member of our Cloud Engineering team, responsible for establishing and driving Fin Ops practices across our Azure platform.
You will serve as the central point of contact for cloud cost optimisation, transparency, forecasting, and governance, working closely with engineering teams, finance, procurement, Microsoft specialists, and internal customers. Your mission is to maximise the business value of our Azure investments by continuously optimizing cloud consumption, purchasing models, and platform design. Through data-driven insights and close stakeholder collaboration, you will promote cost awareness, financial accountability, and sustainable cloud growth across the organization.
This role is expected to establish and mature the Azure Fin Ops capability and may evolve into a leading role within a future Fin Ops practice or team.
- Establish, own, and continuously improve Fin Ops practices, processes, and governance across the Azure platform
- Analyse Azure consumption and spending patterns, identify optimisation opportunities, and drive initiatives to reduce cloud costs through usage and rate optimisation
- Guide cloud engineers and architects in designing, implementing, and operating cost-efficient cloud solutions
- Define and support the implementation of cost allocation, showback, and chargeback models across business units and customers
- Support stakeholders and customers with cost estimations, budgeting, forecasting and financial impact assessments for new projects and cloud initiatives
- Develop dashboards, reporting, alerts, and cost insights for engineering teams, management, finance, procurement, and customers to improve cost transparency and budget control
- Periodically review and consolidate Azure Advisor recommendations, reservations, savings plans, licensing options, and optimisation opportunities together with Microsoft specialists and internal stakeholders
- Proactively promote cost awareness and accountability by challenging resource consumption patterns and helping customers optimise their cloud usage
- Several years of hands-on experience in Azure engineering, Azure platform operations, cloud architecture, cloud financial management, or Fin Ops
- Proven experience managing and optimising Azure consumption, costs, budgets, reservations, savings plans and licensing models
- Strong understanding of Azure services, subscriptions, management groups, resource governance, tagging strategies and cloud-native architectures
- Experience establishing cost transparency through reporting, budgeting, forecasting, anomaly detection and cost governance processes by using tools such as Power BI or Azure Monitor
- Ability to translate technical cloud consumption data into actionable recommendations and business-relevant insights for management and stakeholders
- Experience in enterprise-scale environments; experience in banking, financial services, or other regulated industries is an advantage
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Information Systems, or a comparable discipline (HF/FH/University)
- Strong practical knowledge of Microsoft Azure administration, engineering, governance and cost management
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, automation, cloud governance frameworks, and container and cloud platforms, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), is beneficial
