Position Summary:
Supervises a technical team to ensure objectives are met and work processes are continuously improved. Assigns and prioritizes tasks, monitors progress, and evaluates outcomes. Leads technical projects and supports problem-solving and process improvement activities. Develops and implements engineering processes, procedures, and standards. Provides mentorship and guidance to engineers and other technical staff.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise technical and engineering staff, including task management, performance feedback, administrative duties, and mentoring.
Lead the team in achieving unit objectives and ensuring work processes are continuously improved.
Assign and prioritize work in coordination with leadership and cross-functional teams.
Conduct performance reviews, participate in hiring decisions, and provide coaching and development for staff.
Oversee project planning, execution, and progress tracking.
Develop and implement engineering policies, procedures, and standards.
Monitor and drive process improvements across the engineering function.
Generate and maintain procedural documentation and technical records.
Contribute as a team member on project work and collaborate across functional areas.
Technical Background
Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
Solid understanding of engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of design and development processes throughout a product lifecycle, from concept through deployment and end-of-life support.
Background in mechanical, electrical, or control systems engineering.
Familiarity with system-level design integrating multiple engineering disciplines.
Knowledge of design validation processes, including testing and analysis.
Experience with CAD design and GD&T preferred.
Experience with manufacturing or product development processes is preferred.
Experience leading design validation, root cause analysis, tolerance analysis, or similar technical investigations.
Experience with technical reporting, analysis, and documentation.
Experience mentoring and transferring knowledge to peers and junior staff.
Experience introducing new technologies or processes in technical environments is a plus.
Strong people supervision and leadership skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Capable of working collaboratively in a dynamic, cross-functional team environment.
Self-starter with the ability to influence and motivate others.
Effective verbal and written communication skills; keeps stakeholders informed.
Hands-on technical aptitude across mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
Fluent in the English Language.
Experience leading complex projects and supervising engineering staff.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related Engineering field required.
