The Aerospace Program Manager will lead and oversee complex commercial aerospace programs from inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role serves as the primary point of contact for commercial stakeholders, coordinating cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain to achieve program objectives while mitigating risks and complying with relevant industry regulations.
Responsibilities
Define program objectives, develop detailed project plans, establish timelines, and allocate resources to ensure successful execution of aerospace initiatives.
Lead multi-disciplined Integrated Product Teams (IPT’s) to meet technical, schedule, and performance goals.
Manage development and presentation of cost reviews (internal and external).
Manage program budgets, track costs, and optimize financial performance, including forecasting and reporting.
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks; proactively address issues and opportunities throughout the program lifecycle.
Serve as the main liaison with customers, stakeholders, senior management, and external partners; provide regular status updates and foster strong relationships.
Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards, regulations (e.g., FAA, AS9100), and quality requirements.
Conduct program reviews, status meetings, and post-project evaluations to drive continuous improvement.
Oversee contract execution, including scope management, change orders, and deliverables.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
8+ years of experience in program/project management within the aerospace, defense, or aviation industry.
Proven track record of managing complex programs, including budget oversight and team leadership.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of aerospace regulations, standards, and manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
Required Skills
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project or similar).
Analytical problem-solving abilities with a focus on risk management and decision-making.
Technical aptitude in aerospace systems and engineering principles.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment with attention to detail and adaptability.
