Backend Engineer (.NET)

Location: Lisbon / Oeiras

The company is backed by solid investment and is currently undergoing a major transformation project, modernizing its technology stack, architecture and ways of working. The product is used globally by organizations of all sizes, from regional operators to international market leaders. The platform is designed to be scalable, secure and configurable, with a technology stack strongly centered around Microsoft technologies.

Your role

As a Backend Engineer, you will work on the development and maintenance of core backend services, web applications and APIs that are business-critical and operate at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services and REST APIs using ASP.NET Core Web API targeting .NET 9.0
• Work within a Vertical Slice Architecture for modular, enterprise-oriented functionality
• Integrate multiple product modules and external libraries (security, validation, document processing, etc.)
• Implement data access using Repository patterns with Dapper
• Participate in code reviews and maintain high standards of code quality and maintainability
• Apply secure coding practices and follow internal development guidelines
• Deliver software through CI/CD pipelines via Git Hub Actions, hosted on Azure
• Collaborate closely within a Scrum team and contribute to the ongoing SaaS transformation

Required

• Minimum 5 years of professional backend development experience
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Experience with .NET Core (version 5 or higher) using C#
• Solid experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
• Experience with dependency injection
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL
• Experience using Git for version control
• Familiarity with Scrum or other agile methodologies
• Fluency in English
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team

Nice to have

• Experience with Domain Driven Design (DDD)
• Knowledge of HTTP / HTTPS protocols and messaging concepts
• Experience with Azure Dev Ops
• Understanding of SOLID principles
• Experience setting up or working with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Dapper and/or Entity Framework
