The Omics Sciences Unit is a scientific infrastructure equipped with the most advanced instruments on the market, such as 2nd and 3rd generation sequencers (Illumina, Ion Torrent, Nanopore, and Luminex technologies) for studies in genomics, metagenomics, epigenomics, and transcriptomics, as well as a wide range of nuclear magnetic resonance and liquid and gas chromatography equipment coupled with mass spectrometers, including triple quadrupole, quadrupole time-of-flight, and Orbitrap, for research in proteomics and metabolomics.
Additionally, there is a bioinformatics team available to analyze and integrate all the obtained data.
Its expertise is based on the development of new advanced analytical methods to continuously innovate and solve large-scale problems. All of this, combined with the capabilities of different technological units at Eurecat, enables the provision of solutions to complex and specific issues across a wide range of sectors, including biomedicine, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, the environment, food, veterinary care, and more.

The Eurecat Omics Sciences Unit is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to carry out the following research project:
Technologies with potential applications in monitoring and managing environmental factors that link the exposome to neurodegenerative diseases. The project is based in the field of exposomics and its relationship with the onset and progression of neurological diseases. The main goal is to develop advanced analytical methodologies to understand the mechanisms by which environmental factors (exposome), especially pollutants, lifestyle, and behavioral habits of the population, along with endogenous factors inherent to the individual's biochemistry and genetics, influence the development of neurodegenerative diseases.
and responsibilities
- Coordination, technical and financial management of the project.
- Planning, supervision, execution, and evaluation of tasks and experimental results of the project (including the development of the necessary analytical methodologies on the LC/GC-MS platforms).
- Collaboration in other research projects within the Omics Sciences Unit, including providing analytical services to private companies and public organizations, as well as client contact and advisory services.
