Senior Backend Engineer - PHP​/Laravel

Blue Code is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer (PHP / Laravel) with strong Dev Ops skills to join a growing engineering team for our client in Valencia. You'll work closely with a Tech Lead, Product Manager and Designer to build and scale the backend of a modern content operations platform with AI-powered features.

This is a hands‑on role combining backend excellence with real Dev Ops ownership. You'll be part of the engineering team in Spain of this company, originally from the Netherlands.

• Design, build and maintain Laravel/PHP services powering the content operations platform
• Own and improve AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS, S3), Docker-based deployments and CI/CD pipelines
• Model and optimize MySQL schemas, queries and indexes for performance at scale
• Follow SOLID principles, modern PHP best practices and cover your work with unit tests (PHPUnit / Pest)
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design and AI teams to ship features pragmatically

• Minimum 7 years of backend development
• Strong hands‑on expertise with Laravel and modern PHP (8.x)
• Solid hands‑on Dev Ops experience: AWS (EC2, RDS, S3), Docker and CI/CD pipelines
• Solid MySQL skills: schema design, query optimization and indexing
• Experience writing unit tests with PHPUnit or Pest
• Comfortable with Git workflows (branching, code reviews, rebasing)
• Effective use of AI coding tools (Git Hub Copilot, Claude, Cursor) in daily work
• Product‑minded engineer who used to collaborate with designers, PMs and frontend engineers
• Fluent English (minimum B2) is a must

• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform) or Kubernetes
• Experience with Git Lab CI specifically
• Knowledge / Experience with React or other modern frontend frameworks
• Experience in startup or scale‑up environments
• Interest in AI‑powered products or workflow automation
