Duties and responsibilities the united nations global service centre (ungsc) provides critical supply chain, geospatial, information and telecommunications technologies services and training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world as well as to other un offices, agencies funds and programs.  This internship is located in the technology development unit (tdu) of the technology development, design & planning section (tddps) infrastructure and operations section (ios) within the service for geospatial, information and telecommunications technologies (sgitt) at the ungsc in valencia, spain.  

The intern reports to and works under the supervision of the chief of tdu.  The internship is for six (6) months. One (1) post is available. The internship is unpaid and full-time.  Our interns work as full members of our team, pursue projects that are designed to make a significant difference in ungsc, and have opportunities to learn about the united nations overall.  

The intern will support the digital technology training development project led by the technology development unit (tdu) at the united nations global service centre in valencia, which focuses on strengthening training capabilities for peacekeeping and special political missions. The project involves conducting learning needs assessments and developing high quality, learner centred digital and blended training programmes that enhance operational effectiveness through modern instructional design and technology enabled learning solutions.  

Tasks will include:  a) support the conduct of learning needs assessments (lnas) and curriculum design processes through consultations with diverse stakeholders, including structured interviews, focus groups, and data collection activities. Assist in job and task analysis to identify roles, responsibilities, and the knowledge, skills, and competencies required by target audiences across peacekeeping and special political missions, as well as other un entities.

B)  assist in the development, review, and revision of learning content and supporting materials, ensuring accuracy, relevance, coherence, pedagogical soundness, and alignment with defined learning objectives and target audience needs.

C) apply appropriate adult learning strategies tailored to the subject matter, using established instructional design principles and quality standards to contribute to the creation of engaging, learner-centred training materials, incorporating interactive elements, practical examples, and scenario-based learning approaches.

D) support the application of experiential and reflective learning methodologies and assist in the selection and use of appropriate instructional multimedia tools and formats to enhance learner engagement and retention, taking into account audience characteristics, learning context, and operational environments.

E)  assist with pedagogical analysis, including content mapping, scenarization, and storyboarding for learning materials across different delivery modalities.

F)  support the development of curricula in close collaboration with subject matter experts, instructional designers, course developers, and instructional technology specialists. G) contribute to the design of blended learning programmes delivered at global, regional, and national levels, including e-learning, virtual learning, and instructor-led training formats. H) assist in testing and quality assurance of courses, learning materials, and training content across multiple media and platforms;

support the design, administration, and analysis of surveys and other evaluation tools to assess learning effectiveness and collect participant feedback.
