Academic Manager

Position Overview  Novus Education is seeking an experienced Academic Manager with strong knowledge of the Spanish education system and experience managing academic programmes and teaching teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for academic quality, curriculum development, teacher performance, student progress, and compliance with applicable Spanish educational requirements.
The Academic Manager will work closely with senior management and administrative teams to ensure the effective delivery and continuous development of Novus Education's academic programmes in English and Spanish.

Key Responsibilities    Academic Programme Management   Lead and manage the academic delivery of programmes within the Spanish educational environment.
Oversee programmes aligned, where applicable, with:
ESO – Educación Secundaria Obligatoria
Bachillerato
Formación Profesional (FP)
University preparation and pathway programmes
English/Spanish language programmes
Professional, vocational and continuing education
Ensure programmes are academically coherent, well-structured and aligned with the appropriate Spanish education requirements.
Support the development and launch of new academic programmes.

Curriculum & Academic Development   Develop, review and implement curricula, syllabi, schemes of work and teaching materials.
Ensure learning outcomes, assessment methods and academic standards are clearly defined.
Review programmes regularly and implement improvements based on student outcomes, teacher feedback and academic performance.
Support bilingual/multilingual academic delivery in English and Spanish.

Teaching Quality & Faculty Management   Lead, support and develop the teaching team.
Conduct classroom observations and academic performance reviews.
Provide teachers with structured feedback, coaching and professional development.
Establish teaching standards and ensure consistent academic delivery across programmes.
Recruit, onboard, train and evaluate academic staff.

Student Academic Progress   Monitor student attendance, engagement, academic performance and progression.
Establish systems for identifying students requiring additional academic support.
Work with teachers and administrative teams to implement appropriate intervention strategies.
Monitor student achievement and programme completion rates.

Spanish Education System & Compliance   Maintain a strong working knowledge of the Spanish education system and applicable regional educational requirements.
Ensure academic policies, documentation, procedures and records comply with relevant Spanish requirements.
Work with management and relevant administrative/compliance personnel regarding programme approvals, documentation and quality standards.
Understand the importance of differences between national and Comunidad Valenciana education requirements in Spain.

Academic Policies & Quality Assurance   Develop and maintain academic policies, procedures and quality assurance systems.
Establish academic KPIs and monitor programme performance.
Maintain appropriate systems for assessment, moderation, academic records and student progression.
Lead continuous academic improvement initiatives.

Academic Operations   Work closely with management, admissions, student services and administrative teams on day-to-day academic operations.
Prepare academic schedules, teaching allocations and academic calendars.
Ensure appropriate staffing and resources for each programme.
Contribute to budgeting and academic resource planning where required.

New Programmes & Strategic Development   Research opportunities for new educational programmes in Spain.
Support the design, validation and implementation of new programmes.
Identify opportunities for partnerships with schools, universities, vocational institutions and other education providers.
Contribute to Novus Education's academic growth and expansion in Spain.

Candidate Requirements  Essential   University degree in Education, Educational Sciences, Teaching, Pedagogy or a closely related discipline.
Master's degree in Education or another relevant field.
PhD in Education or a related discipline is highly desirable.
