The curriculum for the four junior school years is balanced between a focus on core subjects - English, Maths and Science - to ensure a firm base for later study, and exposure to a wide range of other subjects to allow pupils to develop their own interests and aptitudes. Most importantly of all, the teaching and the curriculum aim to ensure that pupils develop a love of learning for its own sake that will carry them through the rest of their school days and beyond.
All courses are taught in
English, with a high-quality ESL (English as a Second Language) programme for all non-English speakers.
The K2 differentiated learning programme runs throughout the junior school, ensuring that pupils of high ability are challenged in all lessons, and this, combined with a staff pupil ratio of better than 1:6, allows pupils of whatever background to work at the right pace for them.
Junior School Boarding Facilities:
Aiglon Junior School consists of three traditional Swiss chalets, set in their own grounds, on the brow of Alpina Hill and within the school campus. Excellent facilities include a splendid dance studio and an all-weather sports pitch. The children's rooms are spacious, light and welcoming, and proper care of them is a basic requirement, as is sensitivity to the needs of room-mates.
The family atmosphere is reinforced by the closeness of the Junior School's tutorial system. Each member of the school's staff, resident and non-resident, acts as an academic and pastoral adviser to a group of pupils, giving individual attention, care and advice on matters relating to work, life, organisation and their contribution to everything the school has to offer.
