The Afghan Embassy in Canberra offers a wide variety of services.

The Consular Office issues new passports or extensions. New passports issued are valid for five years only and no other durations are possible. Individuals must carry their own passports. Therefore, the spouse and the children cannot be included in the same passport as their parents. 

All fees must be paid by money order or bank cheque payable to "Embassy of Afghanistan". It is essential that the currency conversion rate is checked on the day of making the money order or the bank cheque.

Application can be filled online on the Embassy website.

The Embassy issues the following visa types:

• Single Entry Visa (For Business, Tourist and Media) with three months of validity and 30 days duration of stay.
• Single Entry Visa (For Business, Tourist and Media) with Three months of Validity and 90 days duration of Stay.
• One Month Entry (Relevant letter must be provided by Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
• Diplomatic and official visa (Note verbal must be provided by their organizations)

 If one wants to obtain Afghan birth certificates or certificate of identity, they must consult the Consular Office of the Embassy.

The Consular Office is also offers attestation, attorney and inheritance services.
