The Austrian Embassy in Bangkok oversees the countries of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand.

The Embassy provides consular services related to:

Holders of ordinary passports of Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia need an entry visa (Schengen visa) or a residence permit to enter and stay in Austria. Holders of diplomatic and service passports may enter Austria and stay in it for 90 days without a visa due to bilateral agreement.

Should the visa be refused, the applicant can appeal against the decision. The appeals are explained at the visa refusal notification.

Non Thai citizen residing in Thailand must present proof of a long stay visa, work permit and re-entry visa. For Non-Thai Applicants the Thai Visa / Work permit should be valid for at least 3 months. Only legal residents in Thailand can request a Schengen visa at the Embassy of Austria in Bangkok. Residents of Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia should contact German Embassy.

Documents provided by the applicant for a tourist visa:

    1. Visa application form, completed and signed, with 2 attached recent photos (photo must be: 35 mm wide, 45 mm high, photo must be well contrasted person, must look straight into the camera, head must be straight, not tilted, mouth closed, head must take up 2/3 of the photo, but must not exceed 36 mm in height, eyes must be in the upper middle of the photo, eye color must be clearly recognizable, distance between the two pupils must be between 8 and 10 mm, white background please.)
    2. Current, valid passport (the passport must be valid 3 months longer than the expiry date of the visa)
    3. Individual tourists:
        1. Flight reservation, (ticket has to be presented to the Embassy upon request only) Please bear in mind Austria must be the main destination. You do not need to buy the ticket to apply for the visa: a reservation is accepted. However, you will be requested to submit the actual ticket before the visa is actually issued, in case the visa is approved. If the trip includes several destinations, proof of transport must also be submitted ( Flight Reservation Must be issued by Airline with Airline Logo in Headline )
        2. Hotel reservations in the Schengen Member States ( Must be mentioned Hotel address and all Guests names in English or German only)
        3. Financial Updated bank guarantee letter Or original bank statement or copy bank book past 6 months eventually other document that could show the economic situation of the applicant (ex. copy of tax payment, certificate of house ownership, etc….)
        4. Work certificate (in case of business owner: company registration) OR Student certificate, in case of your status is student or college student
        5. For underage children under 20 years old to submit application : Document is required; birth certificate, house registration, the authorization of the change of the surname and first name ( if changed) and consent letter have to issue from district (if travel with a single parent)
          Travel insurance (minimum coverage 30,000 €; policy must be issued by an accredited insurance company).
          In case of a private invitation, if the applicant has not enough own financial means: electronic guarantee letter, which can be applied for at the local police station, where the sponsor is residing.

The fee for the application for a visa with a validity of up to 90 days is generally € 60. The processing fee is payable upon application in Baht and will not be refunded in case of refusal.

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
