Austrian Embassy in Luxembourg provides these consular services:

• Certification, authentication of documents;
• Helps Austrian citizens to obtain Luxembourg nationality without losing Austrian citizenship;
• Assists and advises Austrian citizens in case of emergencies abroad;
• In case of financial emergencies, contacts relatives from Austria to arrange money transfer through "Western Union";
• Issues passports, identity cards;
• Issues visas;
• Allows Austrian citizens to participate in electoral events;
• Issues criminal record certificates.

If an Austrian passport has been lost or stolen abroad, citizen should report this to the nearest police station and obtain a police notification which will be required when applying for a new passport at the Austrian Embassy.

Citizens of Schengen Area countries, having national passport or identity card, do not require a visa to travel to Austria and to stay there for up to 90 days. Residence permit is needed when staying in Austria for longer than 3 months. Citizens of countries that are not part of the Schengen Area should contact Austrian Embassy to find out if they need a visa to enter Austria. Consular fees for visa processing must be paid in cash as credit cards are not accepted. Also, it should be noted that processing fee is not refundable in case of visa rejection. Visa processing time is 2-3 weeks.

The Embassy is closed on weekends and Austrian public holidays.
