Relations between Azerbaijan and South Africa date back 21 years. Thought the friendship was established many decades ago there never was an official diplomatic representation from each other in respective countries. Republic of Azerbaijan and Republic of South Africa pursue their independent foreign policy, focusing on territorial integrity, promoting and realising international economic projects. Being the active players in international organisations, Azerbaijan and South Africa play major role in the security and development of the international community.
The Consular Section provides standard services such as assistance with passports and visas, and consular legalization that serves to confirm the legal force of documents and legal acts in the international arena.
Citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan residing, studying and working under contract outside of the Republic of Azerbaijan can appeal to the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to acquire passports.
To obtain a single entry, double entry or multiple entry visa for travel to the Republic of Azerbaijan the following documents must be submitted to the Consular Section of the Embassy:
Completed visa application form:
- Valid passport or other travel document (photocopies will not be accepted) which should have at least one clear page for the visa;
- Holders of travel documents must submit valid permanent resident card;
- Ticket;
- Two passport sized photos of the applicant taken within the last 6 months to reflect the current appearance; Colored photos must be full face, one stapled to the marked corner of the application.
- The invitation letter;
- Consular fee for the South African citizens: single - $47 US dollars, double-100 dollars, and multiple 350 dollars.
Processing time - 3 to 5 business days.
The Embassy would like to remind that those who traveled to the occupied territories without prior permission of the Republic of Azerbaijan will be denied the entry to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Legislation
Documents destined for use in participating countries and their territories should be certified by one of the officials in the jurisdiction in which the document has been executed. With the Certification by the Hague Convention apostille, the document is entitled to recognition in the country of intended use, and no authentication by this office or legalization by the Embassy or Consulate of the foreign country where the document is to be used required.
